01 / Thermal motion
Temperature, in motion.
Same particles. Different energy. Open the connection and watch two gases move toward a shared temperature.
A little faster. A little hotter.
Temperature tracks the particles’ average kinetic energy. Individual particles have different speeds, even at the same temperature. Their colors follow their speed.
Watch energy spread.
Opening the passage lets particles mix and exchange energy in elastic collisions. This is an illustrative 2D ideal gas, with insulating walls, no gravity, and a scaled Kelvin readout. Small temperature fluctuations are expected.
